Coming from a traditional African family; I was exposed to tailored made African fashion through my grandmother and mother. I loved watching my mother wear her Ankara dresses, tops and skirts. Through this experience, I became fascinated with African fashion prints, color and styles. I believed based on these early experiences of fashion, that custom made clothing was readily available to everyone. It was not until I migrated to the United States of America that I discovered that customized clothing is primarily reserved for the wealthy and privileged and access to African fashion even more limited. Fynegal Fashion was born out of my desire to not only showcase African inspired clothing, but also to support and empower unrecognized but highly creative and talented local artisans, who would otherwise have little opportunity to provide for their families. FyneGal is on mission to ensure every woman looks their best without breaking the bank.
